This is a crop of a piece I created at the end of 2011 for the Anime Angels artbook, which I also did the book layout and design for. It's a 100+ page illustration book filled with angels of different inspirations and depictions, and available for order from the website or on Amazon.com!
I wanted to make a tough, watchful Native American-inspired guardian angel character, who maybe is more of a "dark side" but fights to protect the things and people that she cares for. I know her shoulders and her overall figure look really masculine, but this character is indeed a girl. : ) I enjoy seeing women who don't look frail or oversexualized and instead are depicted as independent and strong fighters.
A humble request: I get people commenting often about how I should make my girls look more slender and feminine, but please refrain from leaving those kinds of comments on this particular piece about how society believes women should look like. Thanks!
